Aims and Objectives

AIMS
- To protect The Victoria Pavilion for the education and enjoyment of future generations.
- To refurbish the theatre in keeping with its listed building status and in preparation for a viable re-use.
- To re-open the theatre as a multi-purpose venue run as a charitable enterprise.
OBJECTIVES

- Raise funds through membership, events and donations.
- Lobby for listed building status.
- Maintain the fabric of the building.
- Commission a scoping business plan & options appraisal (feasibility study).
- Form a limited company and purchase the building.
- Take out buildings insurance.
- Enforce parking restrictions.
- Establish an internet web-site.
- Commission report on the state of the plaster ceiling.
- Submit application for Heritage Lottery Project Planning Grant

Immediate
- Sustain annual insurance payments.
- Redouble fund-raising efforts.
- Actively seek major sponsors and donors.
- Launch new web-site for our twin charities & invite advertisers.
- Continue improvements to public health & safety, electrics and safety curtain.
- Complete conversion of a shop into The Winter Gardens Office.
- Replace and shutter shop windows, complete lease negotiationswith prospective shop tenants.
- Complete requirements for an entertainments licence.
- Expand pool of active on-site helpers.
Medium Term
- Continue liaison with Paul Nicholas Theatre School with a view to housing on a permanent basis.
- Continue liaison with the council, Urban Splash & Flacq on a joint strategy for development of the Central Promenade tourist, leisure and entertainment provision.
Long Term
- Re-open The Victoria Pavilion as a multi-purpose heritage venue with theatre at its heart..
PRINCIPLES FOR RE-OPENING
The new venue will be run as a charitable trust, owned by The Morecambe Winter Gardens Preservation Trust Ltd, supported by The Friends of The Winter Gardens and operated by a new (3rd) charity established expressly for the purpose.
Emphasis will be on community and tourist use, education, leisure and entertainment.
