Messages of Support
Glen Cooper, Editor, the Visitor, Morecambe
"As someone who trod the boards at the old theatre in school concerts and with Morecambe Warblers, I retain an affection for the Winter Gardens. Without the Friends the place would now be a car park, let there be no doubt about that. It deserves a renaissance as, once again, the town's principal entertainment venue within a newly regenerated, modern resort.
Congratulations on this new website, good luck to the Friends and I hope the wider business community and relevant funding bodies can help them achieve the success we all want for their project."

"People like to be reminded of places that hold special memories for them; places they have lived and worked, places they have visited and had a good time. These sentiments inspired me to paint “Reflections of Morecambe” which shows one of Morecambe’s most treasured landmarks – the Winter Gardens glorified in evening light.
The Friends of the Winter Gardens are passionate about the restoration of this amazing building. Meeting them coincided with the completion of the painting providing a wonderful opportunity to help this most worthy cause."

STATEMENT re THE WINTER GARDENS FROM GERALDINE SMITH MP for MORECAMBE & LUNESDALE
"I am very pleased to be able to offer my support to the Friends of The Winter Gardens in their quest to develop The Winter Gardens, alongside The Midland Hotel, as a central focus point in the regeneration of Morecambe.
The purchase of the premises represents two decades of hard work by a body of friends and supporters whom I must congratulate on their persistent determination and optimism in the face of consistent adversity. Of course, the purchase will only be the beginning of a second, major stage in the renovation of The Winter Gardens. I call upon all who have helped so far and everyone interested in the future of The Winter Gardens and Morecambe to support The Friends in their continuing campaign to return to The Winter Gardens its pride and central role in the life of the resort."
