The Morecambe Winter Gardens Preservation Trust are delighted to announce that we have won a £6000 award from Natwest CommunityForce, which will be used towards the cost of installing toilet and refreshment facilities in the theatre. This will enable us to host more events in the future and generate income towards further restoration. A big thank you to everyone that voted and helped promote the campaign. “The Entertainer”

Friends of the Winter Gardens with the manager of the Apollo Cinema, Morecambe.

Crowds flocked to the Apollo Cinema in Morecambe for a special charity screening of the classic British film, “The Entertainer.” The movie, which stars Laurence Olivier, was filmed around Morecambe and features The Winter Gardens among the locations. Proceeds from the special screening will go towards the Winter Gardens restoration fund and will help towards repairs to the roof, following the recent lead theft.

A special screening of ‘The Entertainer’.

We are pleased to announce a special screening of the 1960 British classic “The Entertainer”, starring Laurence Olivier, which was filmed at locations around Morecambe, including The Winter Gardens.

The screening is at Apollo Cinemas, Marine Road Central, Morecambe on Sunday 27th November 2011 @ 1pm (doors open 12:15pm)
