Zombieville comes to Morecambe!
Sunday 21st October will see the Winter Gardens host an afternoon of free spooky fun (12:00pm-5:00pm) as part of the first ‘Zombieville’ festival in the resort.
There will be a special FX team to Zombie-fy people in readiness for a variety of family entertainment. There will be stalls, football competitions for the kids to get involved (with prizes), also special ‘Zombie Oscars’ for the kids, who can transform themselves into a gruesome Zombie. Plus four DJ’s on hand to provide the music.
There are other Zombie events taking place across the weekend of 19-21 October at a number of venues in Morecambe. Full details can be found on the Zombieville website:

Heritage Open Days 2012
The weekend of 8th-9th September 2012 sees the Winter Gardens open its doors as part of the national Heritage Open Days weekend. (10am-4pm both days.)
The Friends of the Winter Gardens will be offering tours of the theatre, providing the chance to learn more about this fascinating building and the work to restore it. There will be refreshments in our newly restored bar, plus gifts and souvenirs will be available.
There will also be a display of classic motorcycles on Sunday, courtesy of the Morecambe Classic Bike Club.
In addition, the weekend will see the unveiling of a new portrait collection in the main auditorium. The four pieces of original art by local artist Shane Johnstone feature stars of stage and screen who have a strong association with the Winter Gardens from years gone by. The identities of the stars are being kept secret for now, so we are offering you a small glimpse of each of the portraits as a preview – to find out who they are, visit the theatre this weekend!
Boxing night at the Winter Gardens
Saturday 1st September 2012 sees the return of boxing to Morecambe Winter Gardens after an absence of 48 years.
Coastal Boxing Promotions will be staging a 17-fight evening of white-collar boxing featuring a number of local fighters including Morecambe’s former Central Area Bantamweight Title holder, Marcus Duncan. The event is being staged in support of local charities.

Keep up-to-date with events at the Winter Gardens
August 12th saw the latest successful event at the Winter Gardens, with a performance by local choir, “Ladies of Note.” An appreciative audience were delighted by an afternoon of beautiful singing in the stunning setting of the Morecambe Winter Gardens theatre.
Morecambe Beer Festival
The first Morecambe Beer Festival comes to the Winter Gardens from 23rd – 25th August 2012.
Organised by the Lunesdale CAMRA group, the event will see fifty cask ales and ten ciders/perrys available. There will also be food and entertainment during the weekend.

Morecambe Jazz
The 2012 Morecambe Jazz festival comes to town over the weekend of 6th-8th July and brings the finest Big Band Swing Orchestras, classiest Quartets, Trad & Vintage Jazz & Jazz Funk players to the resort. Events take place around Morecambe over the weekend and include an afternoon session at the Winter Gardens:

Armed Forces Weekend 2012
Events will be taking place around Morecambe over the weekend of 29th June – 1st July, to mark Armed Forces Day.
This national event aims to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. It gives the nation an opportunity to Show Your Support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets.

On the afternoon of Sunday 1st July, the Winter Gardens will host a free concert from the Morecambe Brass Band. There will also be stalls in the theatre manned by ex-service personnel and a WWII Spitfire and military vehicles on display opposite the theatre. Sandcastle Festival 2012
The Sandcastle Festival returns to Morecambe this weekend, 9th-10th June 2012, with a host of events and activities across the resort.
At the Winter Gardens you can have a trip down memory lane to the Vintage Village Hall Tea Room www.thevintagevillagehall.co.uk where you can enjoy cream teas, music and browse vintage fashion. The event runs from 11am-4pm on both days.

Diamond Jubilee Concert
To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, The Friends of the Winter Gardens are working with Cre8 and local schoolchilden, dancers, musicians and entertainers to bring a weekend of free entertainment to the historic Winter Gardens theatre.
With a varied programme across both Saturday and Sunday, there will be something for everyone. The new refreshment facilities in the theatre will also be open over the weekend and there will be opportunity to view the latest restoration work, pick-up some Winter Gardens souvenirs, or become a member of The Friends.
